Subject: Good Foundation
After 40 years, I still have not tired of Pastor Chuck's teaching. Under his tutelage, I have gone through the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, I don't know how many times. I'm glad God raised him up during these latter days.

Yes, I remember in school that scientists once said bumblebees couldn't fly. They got stung on that theory. Then the "cranberries cause cancer". Another lie exposed. Also Baseball pitchers couldn't throw a curve ball. Video proved them wrong again. Then there is this Darwin clown and his theory of evolution. I didn't come from a monkey. I believe scientist are the worst money grabbers GOD ever created.

chuck has a heart for God and it is evident here. this is not for someone who wants a word by word reading of the text but rather making it more understandable to the folks who are not theologians. enjoyable, however if you dont understand what a christian is then its kinda like reading someone elses mail...wont make a lot of sense.

the wisdom of man is foolishness to God 1 Corinthians 1:25 If you believe in the worldly scientific view (evolution) etc. this will make sense to you some day, hopefully sooner than later

Subject: Old Time Radio it is not but good none-the-less
I went to Calvary Chapel Bible College in the late 90's and it was required for students to go through the entire scripture with Chuck Smith. This is NOT old time radio and it should be moved to a section that better describes it. But I do recommend it as a great way to learn the scriptures. Chuck is a gifted teacher.

One note though for any CC pastors reading this; After going through the Bible with Chuck using these old tapes from the 70's and 80's I became a Partial Preterist and an A-millenialist and rejected Pre-Trib, Pre-Millenial teachings taught by CC...and Hal Lindsey types.

Hearing 30 year old interpretation of the end times exposes the weakness and lack of scholarship on those issues.

Subject: Complete Insanity
This audio is the most complete nonsense to ever be contrived. The speaker finds the most fantastical hallucinations to base his facts on. He tries to paint scientists as absolute fools while he is interpreting the bible (a historic fairy tale) by fishing nonsense from disreputable sources to substantiate his claims.
This man actually claims(!!!) that all fossils come from the great flood!! The insanity is accepted by his audience who cheer and clap hands. The world needs to be protected from men like this, let me put it this way if he had a knife in his hand I would be very scared.
I know freedom of speech exists but I think that this sort of thing really shouldnt be allowed in this archive.

Subject: When was this broadcast?
If it was broadcast before 1962, then it qualifies as OTR by virtue of its date of broadcast, and would be worthy not just for its spiritual message but for its historical message about the things pastors would preach about during the Golden Age of Radio--a social commentary of sorts.

If it was broadcast after 1962, then since it is not audio theater, it would not qualify under the current OTR meme, which allows Monitor and The CBS Mystery Theater to qualify, and perhaps would allow the sketches from A Prairie Home Companion to qualify when they finally become public domain sometime in the 386th century, given Congress' apparent mission to try keep everything after 1923 not already in public domain under copyright protection.

A religious OTR show (that is still current if I recall correctly) is "Unshackled." Pastor Chuck Smith's reading and commentary is no "Unshackled," no matter how inspired the message.

Unless someone (such as the original poster) can demonstrate that it was produced and broadcast before 1962 (a program log from a newspaper would suffice, or a copy of one of the messages with its broadcast date would also suffice), I would also suggest that it be moved to Open Source Audio.

Subject: Better than you think
This is a critical explination of the bible. Regularly presented weekly on the radio from study and preparation of the bible and its supporting documents and resources. If one thinks the bible is a mystry, Pastor Chuch Smith clarifies what one may read...if one reads the Bible. This is not comedy, but it does lift ones load ligtens ones work. This is to be enjoyed by thinking people.

Subject: This isn't OTR...
This isn't an OTR program...it really belongs under another heading of "Open Source Audio".

Just because it might have been on the radio sometime, somewhere, doesn't make it OTR under the traditional definition.

Subject: Not what you think
Contrary to the headline, this is NOT the Bible read by Pastor Smith. Instead, it's a commentary and uncritical explanation of the bible's text.
Much of it is very interesting, albeit a bit evangelical at times.
